Meet the Driver: Ruth MacKenzie

Ruth joined LC Wheels in February 2025 after decades driving a long-haul truck. She decided she’d rather stay closer to home, so driving for LC Wheels seemed like an ideal position. “I love this job!” she says. “There are riders who are interesting and from a variety of backgrounds, great hours, weekends off, and travelling around beautiful Lunenburg County. Plus, in bad weather, it’s easy to know if the vehicles will be on the road: if school buses are cancelled, then LC Wheels will be cancelled, too.”
Originally from Dartmouth, Ruth moved to Bridgewater when her husband was hired at Michelin over 40 years ago. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and marvelling at how the natural world is so fascinating. She can spend an entire day working in her flower gardens.
Ruth is pleased with the pet-friendly policy of LC Wheels. Put your pet in a crate and you can bring your pet on board. Is the dog crate too big? “No problem,” says Ruth. “We’ll put the crate on the wheelchair lift and use the mechanical lift.”
It’s a great day when your LC Wheels driver is Ruth MacKenzie. Despite living through loss and difficult times, she brightens your day and shares her gratitude for being alive. Welcome to LC Wheels, Ruth!
