A Bicycle Adventure Helped by LC Wheels

A recent bicycle trip on the Adventure Trail shows how LC Wheels can play an essential role.

An easy first bicycle adventure to try from Bridgewater with LC Wheels help, could be an 18 km stretch of the Adventure Trail from Mahone Bay back to Bridgewater. It’s on trails that are well-cared for and mostly on the flat.

(Of course LC Wheels can take you and your bicycle from anywhere in our service area (MODL, Bridgewater, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay) to any place in our service area that a rail trail crosses a road.)

But for this example, the first step is to call LC Wheels at 902-523-4455to book your ride from your Bridgewater home to Mahone Bay @ $7.50 per person. The suggested drop-off point is the parking lot at the corner of Main St. and Long Hill Rd.

A large tourist map at that corner shows the trail system. Take the Bay to Bay Trail north for 300m through the woods until it joins the Adventure Trail at the “Repurpose Point,” which is lined with old industrial equipment. There’s a large sign with destinations, plus a curious blue panda !

Follow the sign for heading to Bridgewater.

Next point of interest at 2.6 km is Chicory Blue General Store, right beside the trail. There’s a lovely outdoor dining area and unique bicycle parking. Mention you’ve read this article and request a free sticker!

At 6.5 km you’ll ride over Bridge 4. Stop, look and listen for bullfrogs.

At 7 km Ness Lake, and 7.5 km Langille Little Lake are close on your right.

Blysteiner Lake is on the right at 11 km and has a tiny beach! You might hear a loon calling…

At 13.1 km there’s a parking lot near the 103 highway. (Don’t follow the signs for the ATV club trail.)

Traffic can be busy on Hwy 3 where the trail crosses at 13.3 km. Excercise caution at all crossings – driveways, gravel roads, highways.

If you’re bicycling on a day after some rain, you’ll see a rushing river (or brook) with tiny  waterfalls on the left at 15.5 km.

At 17.2 km there’s a marked crosswalk on Glen Allen Dr.

You’re on the last part of the ride. Coast downhill and finish your trail ride at the Most Wanted and Bulk Barn parking lot (across from the former Cineplex) at 18.3 km.
Welcome back to Bridgewater!
