Below are the policies in place when riding with Lunenburg County Wheels.
Please contact us if you have any questions.

  • You must book your ride at least 24 hours in advance (48 hours is recommended to help us serve you better and help ensure availability at your preferred pickup time).
  • Need to cancel a trip? Please contact our dispatcher as soon as possible at 902-523-4455.
  • No scents is good sense! Some of our volunteers and clients have allergies; you can help make your and their trip more pleasant by being scent sensitive. Thanks for understanding!
  • Pets: All pets must be effectively restrained during travel. Cats must be crated; large dogs must be muzzled; all dogs must have leads.
  • Oxygen tanks: Oxygen tanks can only be transported in Lunenburg County Wheels vehicles if they are carried on the passenger’s person.
  • Children: Children under 16 years old cannot travel unattended. (See policy details, below.)
  • Car seats: An appropriate certified child or booster seat(s) must be provided and installed by the rider’s parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian is also responsible for properly securing the rider. (See policy details, below.)

Attendants always ride free! Just let our dispatcher know at the time of booking. Our drivers are happy to hold doors, assist with packages and provide a steadying arm, but passengers requiring additional assistance require a personal attendant to provide the additional assistance they may require.

Children Under 16

Children under 16 years old cannot travel unattended.

  • Transportation of a rider under 16 years of age without an adult guardian may be permitted at the discretion of LC Wheels and driver, and only in cases where a trip is booked by a third-party program provider, where a LC Wheels driver will not be alone in a vehicle with the rider, and where the driver will not be responsible for the care of the rider before entering and upon leaving the vehicle.

As legally required, an appropriate certified child or booster seat(s) must be provided and installed by the rider’s parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian is also responsible for properly securing the rider.

Note: All child or booster seats must be removed at the destination. LC Wheels cannot be responsible for child safety equipment between inbound and outbound rides.

Note: LC Wheels is responsible to get the rider from door to door. It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to ensure there is the required support at the pick-up and drop-off points.

  • The decision to transport an unaccompanied rider under 18 may be revoked in response to (including but not limited to):  unsafe, disrespectful, illegal or destructive behaviour; conversation or behaviour that makes the driver or other passengers uncomfortable; failure to follow the instructions of the driver; and/or failure to follow the trip schedule (i.e. lateness, not waiting in the agreed location, adult not present at drop-off point, etc.).

Special circumstances falling outside the above conditions may be considered if required by contacting the LC Wheels Operations Manager. Exceptions will be brought to the Operations Committee for approval.

LC Wheels will do its best to complete all booking, but parents/guardians must understand that service interruptions do happen and should have a back-up plan in the event of such an occurrence.
